Rules & Safety – Breda Fly Fishing

We want everyone to enjoy a safe, relaxed, and rewarding day on the River Don.

Please take a moment to read and follow the rules below. They are in place to protect you, other anglers, and the river.

Personal Safety

All visitors enter and fish entirely at their own risk.

 

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

 

Please wear non-slip footwear suitable for rough, uneven, or wet ground.

 

A personal flotation device (life jacket) is strongly advised when wading or boating.

 

Do not fish during periods of high water, heavy rainfall, or strong currents.

 

Swimming in fishing areas is strictly prohibited.

 

Maintain a safe casting distance from other anglers, as hooks can cause serious injury.

 

Carry a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof pouch and inform someone of your expected return time.

The Fishing Rules

A valid Environment Agency (EA) rod licence is required and must be carried at all times.

 

Barbless hooks only must be used, and all fish should be handled with care.

 

Salmon are catch and release only at all times.

Please observe maximum courtesy and minimum noise to respect other anglers.

 

Alcohol and drugs are not permitted while fishing.

 

Alcohol is permitted only if camping in a bivvy, as fishing after dusk is not allowed.

 

Fishing is permitted only within the designated Breda Fly Fishing boundaries.

River & Wildlife Care

Please take all litter home or use the bins provided.

 

Do not damage riverbanks, trees, fences, or vegetation.

 

Avoid disturbing birds and wildlife, particularly during the breeding season.

 

Keep all gates closed and respect neighbouring farmland and property

Conduct

Breda Fly Fishing reserves the right to remove any person who behaves irresponsibly, unsafely, or in breach of these rules.

No refunds will be issued for removal due to unsafe behaviour or rule breaches.

Dial 999 and state your location as:

Provide the nearest access point grid reference, as displayed on on-site signage

Important Notice

Fishing access and river use may be restricted at any time due to:

 

  • Unsafe conditions

  • Flooding

  • Maintenance

  • Conservation work
